- I don't see what I want on your website, do you sell it?
- Probably :-) Right now our website is only just getting set up with our products - we have over 4000 different products in-store, and many thousands more available to order within a few days so there's a good chance that what you are chasing is available in-store or to order. There are some product brands that are dealership-based (for example Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Marshall, Yamaha) that we don't have access to, but we can certainly point you in the right direction even if we can't help you out directly. Drop by or give us a call!
- Do you offer Lay-by?
- Absolutely! We offer 3-month layby terms on any sale over $300 but we are happy to discuss if you have particular needs (eg, a longer term for a larger item or even shorter laybys for smaller orders in some cases). We don't have rigid repayment schedules so whatever suits your situation over the given term is fine by us. Layby's can be organised in-store or you can give us a call.
- Can I make a Lay-by payment by direct deposit?
- Yes! If you'd like to make a layby payment through your internet banking or even at a branch you are welcome to do so. Our BSB is 124 188, Account 2017 1797 (BOQ, MauMusic). Please include your invoice number and if possible your surname on the transfer so we can link your payment to your order.
- Do you offer lessons at MauMusic?
- Short answer, No - but we can put you in touch with some local teachers. Long answer - the North-Western suburbs are actually home to a great number of very talented music teachers. When we started MauMusic we made a deliberate choice to work closely with the existing local teachers rather than act as a "competitor" - for primarily this reason we don't offer in-store music lessons, but we do keep a list of local teachers that we can refer you to. Just drop in or give us a call and we can give you some names and numbers!
- I'm a teacher - can you put me on your list?
- Sure! Let us know a bit about yourself, your experience and qualifications and the type of students you prefer - we do try to do a bit of basic match-making, so if we know you prefer to teach (for instance) jazz styles, we can refer you those specific sorts of enquiries. You can get in touch by email or the best of all is if you can drop in and say Hi. Obviously the bulk of the enquiries we get are from people in the local area so if you are located elsewhere you are of course welcome to get in touch but you might be best to take a look around stores in your area for some local support.
- Do you sell Second-hand gear?
- Short answer, No. We do have a rental program which has a buy-out option that can make an excellent way to obtain a secondhand instrument with a known service history and great quality, but as for buying and selling secondhand instruments it's not a service we offer at this time. For beginner and intermediate instruments the value of brand-new instruments with a full warranty makes it extremely difficult to recommend secondhand instruments for any but the more expensive instruments.
- Can you sell my instrument on commission?
- Unfortunately, no. Our understanding is that in order to provide that service we would be required to hold a secondhand dealers license which at this point in time will be too expensive given the turnover of secondhand equipment we'd expect to do.
- Can we try the instrument before we buy it?
- Of course! The only exceptions are whistles/ocarina's, Kazoo's and Harmonicas (they are very difficult to sterilize). For blown instruments such as Flute, Clarinet, Trombone, Trumpet etc we sterilize the instruments after use so they are safe to play. You are also welcome to bring your own mouthpiece if you prefer.
- Can I order online and collect in-store?
- Yes, absolutely! In the check-out screen simply choose the "In-store collection" and proceed through checkout as normal. We can email or SMS you as soon as your order is ready to collect.
- I want to work at MauMusic - are there any openings?
- Not at this stage, but we are always on the lookout for good people - you never know when something might come up. You are welcome to email us your resume and we will let you now if anything comes up that we think you might be a good fit for. Please note that we only have positions for people who have a genuine love of music.
